The life story of my mum and her sisters

This is just a random conversation in bet my mum and me. And I decided to post it coz I know I'll forget it soon. And I find it rather interesting.

When she (second eldest daughter) has finished her upper secondary in Limbang, she waited for my 3rd auntie to finish her education too then both of them left for Singapore, without informing my grandparents. They left when my grandparents went to somewhere. They travelled by boat for three days and went to a college which they knew from Borneo Bulletin. They obtained their school fee from a customer of my grandpa. It's quite clever.

Only then they realised it's not a boarding school so they had to find a relative and stay in his house, which was already sort-of full coz he had six children. They then applied for an accommodation in something like Young Christian Ass. thingy. Food was included. $180 per month. She said they were treated like princesses; servants stood around the table and when required, they would come over to pour some drinks. My mum and aunt didn't know any of the rules to dine and they couldn't speak english too so it's rather hard for them.

Whereas my 4th auntie went to Canada and obtained her degree in Computer Programming. She then came to Brunei and worked with my mum. However, she couldn't stand the heat here so she went to Aus and married to a guy named Jacky. They then gave birth to a son and a daughter. They worked in a restaurant and Jacky always instructed my aunt to do all sorts of things in a bad manner. He then said the children were a burden to him. They divorced. Jacky got married then divorced then got married again to a Hong Kong mum who has had a child already who he met on internet.

Their son lived with his dad but then his grandma (father's side) raised him up coz Jacky couldn't take care of him. However, his grandma was not a great lady too so he returned to his mum, ie my aunt. Her life was quite hard coz she has spoiled her daughter so much that her daughter would actually punch and pulled the hair of my aunt. She was only scared of my youngest aunt who slapped her hard on her face once.

And about my this youngest aunt, she went to England to further her education. Knowing no one there, she asked the sister of my mum's friend who was staying in England to fetch her. Bear in mind that they knew nothing about each other, not even how they looked. She is staying in Brunei and married to a guy here too. He is not a Bruneian pulang. He was in charge of the Rainbow Stationery Company branch in Brunei and many big companies of Hua Ho level ordered stocks from them. So basically I went there to buy stationeries at a retail price which is much much cheaper. She is now staying in Aus though, coz she much prefers Aus than here. She has once stayed there before too for a few years after she left England.

Whereas my eldest auntie was staying in Kuching. She has a son and two daughter. The daughters are now working in KL. One day in Limbang, she left a note on a desk and was gone. Yeah, she ran away from home. Then my mum had to suffer coz she was the next eldest one. She had to wash the clothes of everyone else, including my eight uncles. This story took place quite a long ago; there was no washing machine. She hand-washed all the clothes, which my ex-maid sometimes was required to do too coz it was cleaner. She then said something she needed to boil some glue and spread it over the clothes so the clothes could be set hard and it was easier to press. Then something about leaving your clothes on the grass overnight would make them look perfectly clean coz the dew would have cleaned it. She then had to make some food like fried banana, cakes for sale.
